What is Bodybuilding All About?
Bodybuilding & Bodysculpting
Contrary to what many people perceive is “the actual art of bodybuilding.” This doesn’t have to be a sport or competition unless you are simply competing with yourself to “build a better body.” This art has taken the form of lifting heavier weights as often as possible, not to be confused with progressive overload training, but ultimately what’s the difference?
The same mentality of always pushing yourself still applies because a true bodybuilder will always look for ways to improve. Is one bicep bigger than the other? Are your legs un-proportional with your upper body? These are questions you have to ask yourself before beginning this journey, but I will tell you that the grass is greener on the other side.
Although, are you worried that your genetics will prevent you from achieving the muscular physique of your dreams? As a personal trainer and life coach, I hear every excuse under the sun and one of the most common is people telling me that their genetics are preventing them from lifting heavy weights. I truly understand, some people were blessed to be 6 foot 5, weigh 225 with 6 percent body fat. However, fortunately there are two out of those three factors that we can change. Whether you are old, young, tall, short, overweight or very skinny – lifting heavier weights will help you.
Reports have been pouring in for years now, clearly stating that working out with weights will:
- Build strong bones while preventing osteoporosis and arthritis
- Erect confidence while reinforcing your self-esteem and self-worth
- Build mental performance while optimizing cognitive function and preventing the onset of many different mental illnesses.
But how is this all possible? Do you currently lack the motivation to even think about a gym or going inside one?
I must tell you, a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and maybe a few tears are waiting at the front gates but I guarantee that it’s nothing you can’t handle. Many of us have some sort of physical background, from athletics to just running around on the playground. Now, as you keep reading, I want you to try to remember the exact time where this stopped.
